    The methodology

    Six facets, and every class graded against them

    Intent · Structure · Boundaries · Evidence · Governance · Operations — the six-facet classification of any node type or page by the kind of knowledge it represents.

    Engineering knowledge is not one kind of thing. A mission objective, a thermal constraint, a test report and an approval record are answers to different questions, and a tool that stores them in one undifferentiated pile cannot tell you what is missing. ISBEGO names the six questions, so "what have we not covered" becomes answerable instead of rhetorical.

    Intent

    10 classes

    The purpose and direction — WHY the system or organization exists and what it is trying to achieve. Missions, objectives, goals, strategies, visions, drivers, needs, aims and value propositions.

    Structure

    23 classes

    The make-up and composition — WHAT the system and organization are built from. Components, systems, subsystems, assemblies, parts, modules, functions, interfaces and architecture, as well as the organizational structure: organizations, divisions, departments, business units, teams, roles, positions, employees and people, and physical assets.

    Boundaries

    19 classes

    The limits and rules that constrain the system — what it must and must not do. Requirements, constraints, standards, regulations, policies, rules, scope, thresholds, limits and applicable interfaces-as-constraints.

    Evidence

    17 classes

    The artefacts and proof that things are true or done. Documents, deliverables, reports, records, datasets, specifications, models, drawings, and the results of tests, analyses, verification and validation.

    Governance

    21 classes

    Decisions, authority and oversight — how the work is steered and controlled. Decisions, risks, issues, assumptions, approvals, reviews, audits, stakeholders, authorities, accountabilities, roles & responsibilities, and doctrine or policy direction.

    Operations

    32 classes

    The activities and execution — how the work actually gets done over time. Tasks, activities, actions, processes, procedures, workflows, schedules, milestones, events, and the resources, capacity and logistics consumed in running it.

    Units are a setting, not a rewrite

    The same estate serves teams that work in kilometres and teams that work in nautical miles. Units are held per dimension, so a figure is stored once and rendered in whatever the reader has chosen — change it in the rail on the left and these move. The values are read from SMAT's constant store, not typed here.

    Composed unit — not offered a conversion. The rail does no dimensional algebra, and dBW per kelvin per hertz is not the power dimension however much its symbol resembles one.

    Where each grading came from

    A classification without provenance is an opinion. Every ISBEGO grading in the ontology records the rule, map or model that produced it, and a confidence — so a reviewer can tell a curated decision from an inferred one without asking anybody.
